FitSugar Get the Bod: Taylor Swift Dec 7, 2009 4:30 AM Next up in our get the bod Grammys edition is country-pop singer-songwriter Taylor Swift . After hearing the news that she could possibly take home eight Grammys this year, Swift told the Associated Press that she "started freaking out and jumping up and down." If past red carpet moments are any indication, I'm expecting nothing less than breathtaking from her at this year's Grammys. At a svelte 5'11" and only 19-years-old, Swift has youth and an active metabolism working in her favor. It's been rumored that Swift has followed a raw food diet in the past but she tends to keep pretty quiet on what she eats, wanting the public to focus on her music instead. Swift was recently seen having dinner at Beinhana where she enjoyed a dinner date with Twilight star, Taylor Lautner . If you'd like to know Swift's workout regimen, . Swift's been a little more forthcoming about her workout routine, telling Allure that she definitely trains and works at staying in shape to remain in top shape, especially when performing. “Basically, if I’m indulging too much and not exercising enough, I can feel that. I can feel a change before I see it. For me, working out is not so I can get skinny. It’s so that I can keep up my endurance so I’m not panting on stage. Heavy breathing is the worst when you’re in concert. You don’t want to see that if you’re going to see a show.” When it comes to building up her endurance, Swift is all about cardio — specifically running . She loves running outdoors but hits the treadmill if she can't make time for an outside session. The young country crooner has been known to hit the treadmill before a performance to calm down pre-show jitters. It sounds like even at her young age, Swift has a great outlook on her health!
FitSugar Get the Bod: Lady Gaga Dec 4, 2009 4:30 AM If you can get past the wild outfits, ambitious hairstyles, and off-the-wall makeup, you'll find that Lady Gaga has a pretty rockin' bod. It's no surprise either — I mean, have you seen her live performances? The pop star sings her way through tightly choreographed dance sequences that require a tremendous amount of endurance, strength, and flexibility. With a tour underway and being one of three female artists that lead the pack in Grammy nominations this year , Lady Gaga is on a high. And let's not forget that she's also looking pretty fabulous on the January cover of Elle . Not content to rest on her laurels, the star has taken celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak on tour with her as he reveals via Twitter : "About to "5-Factor-ize" the Lady GaGa tour...my luggage is packed with 5-factor snack bars, chips, and smoothies!" To hear what kind of workout and diet Lady Gaga can expect from Pasternack, . Besides Lady Gaga, Pasternack works closely with celebs like Alicia Keys, Jessica Simpson , and Vanessa Williams, and stressed the benefits of his 5-factor diet: three meals and two snacks daily that consist of lowfat protein, fiber, healthy carbs, and fats. There's also a sugar-free drink allowed with every meal. Pasternack's workout consists of a daily 25-minute session combining strength and cardio. Clients are allowed one diet "cheat day" a week and two days off from exercise. On a recent episode of the Today Show , Pasternack revealed that the secret to Lady Gaga's killer abs were lots of crunches. He starts her on a basic crunch and modifies that into reverse crunches , ending with a double crunch — lifting both ends of your body toward your center at the same time. Pasternack says he and Gaga worked out together right before she hit the stage at the VMAs this year . The reason? It gives her an extra boost of confidence to perform well. I think many of us can attest to the high we feel after exercising, too! Check in with Fit next week, where we'll be featuring Taylor Swift's and Beyonce's workout plans — Lady Gaga's biggest competition at this year's Grammy Awards.
cosmogirl Looking to Boost Your Metabolism? Jun 23, 2008 1:24 AM Okay, is that even a question? I don't think so, who doesn't want to have a fast metabolism and get healthier? So here I have compiled a great list of 4 fool proof tips to raise the burn rate: 1. From the wise words of the Black Eyed Peas; Pump it!... and like you mean it. If you're a gym junkie this one will work out perfectly for you, and if you're not then why are you here looking to get fitter and healthier? Consult with a trainer or someone that can help you out with finding the best weight training for your body type and muscle type. Then you can move on to the actual heavy lifting; begin with the heaviest weights (but be careful, don't go all body builder on yourself... we care about our bodies here remember?)at each machine or with each exercise that you do. 2. Pound it, Pound it! The pavement that is. Okay hands up; who here does regular heart pumping excersise? Okay, who does a high paced half hour run several times a week? No one? Well get doing it girls! Because research has shown that if you do this your body will burn as much as 420 kJ daily!!!! And who doesn't want that? 3. Eat. I mean it... seriously. Okay lets not lie here, who has starved themselves before? If not, have you ever skipped a meal, told someone you had a huge meal before you came when you didn't (and then you get home and sit in your room for an hour thinking about going down to Krispy Kremes to get a massive box of originals and wolf them down by yourself... and then you do it), okay maybe that's going too far. But I think you get what I mean. Starvation is bad, depriving yourself of food is deadly! Okay... do we all get it now good. Need more explaining... Well I'll post a quick blog on that later. But for now; DO NOT STARVE YOUR METABOLISM WILL HATE YOU AND EVENTUALLY COME BACK AND GET YOU! 4. Brrr..... Ice Water. Two words, three syllables. Heaven for metabolism. Simple enough? I hope so. More soon girls, enjoy Cosmo xx.
